Lakers land 2 more Klutch Sports clients

The Los Angeles Lakers are accumulating enough Klutch Sports players to form Exodia the Forbidden One.

The Lakers agreed to terms Thursday with free agents Lonnie Walker IV and Troy Brown Jr., per multiple reports. Both players are represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, who already represents many current Lakers, namely, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Kendrick Nunn.

Ever since James, Klutch’s marquee client, arrived in Los Angeles in 2018, the Lakers have rostered several other Klutch players. Montrezl Harrell, J.R. Smith, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Dion Waiters are a few such names, besides those who are currently on the roster.

Besides the Klutch link, the Walker and Brown signings do not exactly make very much sense. While Walker and Brown are young and play nice defense, both are undersized wings (especially Walker at 6-foot-4), both have shot under 35 percent on three-pointers over their respective careers, and both are underwhelming playmakers.

True, the Lakers could do worse since they are only giving these two players one-year contracts (Brown for the minimum and Walker for the midlevel exception). But the team needs shooting and facilitating (especially after losing this player in free agency), making it tough to see the value of this pair of signings beyond who is representing them.

Ti faccio una sintesi.

La Klutch Sports, dove ha la procura LeBron James, la società di Rich Paul per capirci, ha intensi rapporti coi Lakers, come nessun altra squadra nella lega ha mai avuto con nessuna agenzia, è un unicum.

Free agent forward Otto Porter Jr. has reached an agreement with the Toronto Raptors on a two-year deal with the second being a player option, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The 2022 NBA champion is leaving the Golden State Warriors after a productive first season in the Bay. He averaged 8.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and shot 46.4% from the field. The journeyman bounced around the league in recent years, adding another stop in his NBA career.

Porter Jr. was the third overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft and the Raptors will be his fifth team in the last six seasons.

Also in free agency, another piece of the Warriors' title-winning roster left Golden State. Gary Payton II reached an agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers on a three-year, $28 million deal late Thursday.

Ricky Rubio resta ai Cleveland Cavaliers. Il catalano, come riportato da Chris Haynes (Yahoo Sports), firmerà un contratto da tre stagioni per un totale di 18.4 milioni di dollari.

Rubio, 31 anni, è stato protagonista di un’ottima stagione (13.1 punti di media con 6.6 assist in uscita dalla panchina) a Cleveland, fino alla rottura del legamento crociato del ginocchio sinistro che ha terminato la sua annata in anticipo, a fine dicembre. Al momento del suo infortunio, i Cavs erano 20-13 in Regular Season e occupavano le prime posizioni della Eastern Conference.

Alla trade deadline, Ricky è stato ceduto da Cleveland a Indiana, come parte dell’affare-Caris LeVert. Già ai tempi, in ogni caso, si ipotizzava che in questa free agency sarebbe tornato sulle sponde del lago Erie, con un accordo pluriennale a cifre ridotte. E così è stato.

Come suggerito da Tony East (Forbes), il suo ritorno ai Cavaliers potrebbe avvenire attraverso una sign&trade con i Pacers, in cui sarebbe coinvolto uno tra Dylan Windler e Cedi Osman, con lo scopo di conservare la mid-level exception per un’altra firma.

Ah beh ci sono mille regole diverse a seconda dei tipi di contratti, senza considerare le calusole che permettono di rifiutare le trade, ma sono molte poche nella lega in questo momento.

Comunque sia, la base che dobbiamo prendere per valida per un free agent firmato è di tre mesi o il 15 dicembre, data in cui puoi poi effettuare tali operazioni.

Poi ti dicevo ci sono delle differenze e delle aggiunte, ad esempio i rookie non possono ceduti per 30 giorni dalla firma del contratto. Se invece ci sono coinvolti giocatori che hanno avuto dei contratti con i diritti Bird o Early Bird, ecco in questo caso non si possono cedere prima del 15 gennaio e devono sottostare anche le nuove squadre a questa regola.
